Mary McNeill is a Seattle-based artist whose work draws on her background in psychology to examine the dynamics of family systems, translating patterns of intimacy, inheritance, and memory into symbolic visual narratives. She layers painted motifs of archetypal figures, architectural forms, and natural ephemera into atmospheric landscapes to create a form of collage-like storytelling that blends realism and abstraction. Her practice is anchored in oil painting and extends into sculpture, drawing, and collage.
Mary holds a MA in Counseling, specializing in Family Therapy and Art Therapy, from Antioch University Seattle (2022) and a BFA from Ohio University (2014). Originally from Ohio, she has exhibited her work in the Midwest region, and most recently in Oregon. She will be attending the Vermont Studio Center Residency in October (2025).
